From the Detroit Shock dynasty to a Dallas reboot
The franchise carries one of the league's richest histories under a former name. As the Detroit Shock it won three championships, in 2003, 2006 and 2008, coached for a spell by Bill Laimbeer.
After the Detroit era ended the team moved to Tulsa in 2010 and then to the Dallas area in 2016 as the Wings, resetting as a young, draft-built side.
The three banners stayed in the Detroit history books, so the Wings are still seeking a first title under the new name and city.
