The story

Four decades in the dark, then the splash

Golden State won it all in 1975 and then spent forty years mostly losing. The 'We Believe' team of 2007 was a brief, glorious riot, but the Warriors were a punchline more often than a contender.

Everything changed with Stephen Curry. From 2015 the Warriors, with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green under Steve Kerr, rebuilt basketball around the three-point line. They won 73 games in 2016, the most ever, then blew a 3-1 Finals lead to LeBron's Cavaliers in the sport's most painful collapse.

They answered by adding Kevin Durant and winning two more, then took a fourth in 2022 without him. A team that once could not buy a win became the defining dynasty of its era.

For the fans

Warriors fans know both ends of the feeling. The joy of the greatest shooting team ever, and the scar of 3-1 that will never fully fade.

For the punters

When Curry plays they are never truly out of a game, which makes them a dangerous live underdog. The flip side is variance, since the three giveth and taketh away. These are prime totals games, so the over is often the cleaner read.
