The story

The Big Ticket, long winters, and a new spark

Founded in 1989, the Timberwolves spent most of their history in the cold, both literally and in the standings. Kevin Garnett, the Big Ticket, was the lone beacon, dragging them to the 2004 conference finals almost alone.

After KG, the wilderness years returned. Top picks came and went, and the playoffs were a rumour more than a routine.

Anthony Edwards changed the mood. Fearless, charismatic and explosive, he led a defensive-minded group to the 2024 conference finals and made Minnesota fun again.

Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell rounded out that 2004 team, the franchise's high point until Edwards arrived to lift the ceiling again.
