Portland Trail Blazers

One NBA title (1977). Bill Walton's Blazers were a basketball movement. Rip City endures.

The story

Rip City, one banner, and the pick that haunts

Founded in 1970, the Blazers won the 1977 title behind Bill Walton's brilliant, injury-shortened peak. Rip City has been loud and loyal ever since.

The franchise also owns one of the most famous draft mistakes in sport, taking Sam Bowie in 1984 one pick before Michael Jordan. Clyde Drexler's 1990s teams reached two Finals but ran into the dynasties of the day.

Damian Lillard defined the modern Blazers, a clutch shooter who hit one of the great series-ending daggers, before his departure opened a rebuild.

Clyde Drexler's early-1990s sides were perennial contenders, and the 2000 team is still haunted by a 15-point fourth-quarter collapse in Game 7 against the Lakers.

For the fans

You back a small market with a big voice and a famous what-if. Rip City loyalty runs deep, banner or no banner.

For the punters

A rebuilding team finding its identity. Home underdog and unders value while the young guards develop.
