Sacramento Kings
One NBA title (1951, as the Rochester Royals). Long droughts and the loudest cowbell in the league.

One NBA title (1951, as the Rochester Royals). Long droughts and the loudest cowbell in the league.
The franchise dates to 1945 and won the 1951 title as the Rochester Royals, a banner so old most fans have to look it up. The team landed in Sacramento in 1985.
The early-2000s Kings, with Chris Webber, Vlade Divac and Peja Stojakovic, played the most joyful basketball in the league. Many believe the 2002 conference finals were stolen by the officials in a notorious Game 6 against the Lakers.
Then came the longest playoff drought in major North American sport, finally broken in 2023 when Sacramento lit the beam again.
Tiny Archibald's early-1970s peak, when he led the league in scoring and assists in the same season, is a forgotten gem in the long stretch between the title and the beam.
You carry a robbery, a long drought and a beam that finally lit. Kings fans are among the most patient and most vindicated in the game.
A fast, offense-first team. Totals lean over, and a rocking home arena adds real value to home spots.
