Esteban Ocon has won a Grand Prix. On a chaotic afternoon in Hungary, he took his one big chance and never let go.
Ocon came from a working-class family in Normandy who sacrificed a lot to fund his karting. He fought his way up and into F1, then lost his seat for 2019 and spent a year on the sidelines as a Mercedes reserve. He came back with Renault, later Alpine, determined to make it count.
His moment arrived at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix. After a first-lap pile-up reshuffled the order, Ocon led and held off Sebastian Vettel for a famous maiden win. He has been a tough, racy midfielder ever since. For 2026 he leads Haas, the small American team, where in 2025 his rookie teammate Oliver Bearman pushed him hard. Ocon and Pierre Gasly also share a frosty history that runs back to their karting days, one of the sport's longest feuds.
Ocon's Hungary win is a brilliant underdog tale. He races hard, sometimes too hard, and brings real fight to the midfield.
At Haas, Ocon is a lower-midfield bet. His head-to-head battle with Bearman is the market to watch, and it will be close after 2025. For points props, back him only at tracks that suit the Haas. Wins and podiums are off the menu barring chaos.
