GABRIEL
BORTOLETO
car 5
Reigning F2 champion. Bortoleto is the first Brazilian on the F1 grid since Massa, racing for Audi as it takes over Sauber.
The champion learning the hard way.
Gabriel Bortoleto won everything on the way up. His first F1 year taught him how brutal the top can be.
The young Brazilian had a dream junior career. He won the Formula 3 title, then the Formula 2 title in 2024 as a rookie, a rare double that marks out a special talent. Expectations were sky high when Sauber signed him for 2025. Brazil saw echoes of its racing heroes.
The reality of a backmarker car was harsh. He scored just 19 points in a tough season and carried the weight of being an F2 champion in a struggling team. But the speed flashed through often enough that the paddock stayed convinced. For 2026 he stays on as the team becomes Audi, learning beside the veteran Nico Hulkenberg.
Bortoleto carries the hopes of a country that loves F1 like few others. A back-to-back junior champion, he is a future star in the making, worth watching from the ground floor.
A young driver in a developing car is not a points banker. His best markets are head-to-head qualifying battles with Hulkenberg, where his raw pace can shine. Treat any points or podium props as long shots until Audi gives him a competitive car.
