Aston Martin team mate to Alonso. Stroll has consistently scored points across nine F1 seasons.
The owner's son with a point to prove.
No driver on the grid gets more criticism, or sits in a stranger position, than Lance Stroll.
Stroll is the son of Lawrence Stroll, the billionaire who owns Aston Martin. That fact follows him everywhere. But the talent is real too. He won the European Formula 3 title and the Toyota Racing Series young. In F1 he took a shock podium on his debut weekend in Baku in 2017, and another fine result in wet Italy. He has three career podiums and a pole in Turkey in 2020.
The knock on him is consistency. On his day he can beat anyone. On a bad day he is anonymous. Paired with Fernando Alonso, one of the toughest yardsticks in the sport, he often comes off second best. For 2026, with a big-money Aston Martin project around him, he needs to show he belongs at the sharp end.
Stroll splits opinion, which makes him fascinating. His wet-weather drives and his pole in Turkey prove the speed is there when it clicks.
Stroll is a low-floor, high-ceiling driver. He is rarely the pick to beat Alonso head to head, which can make a Stroll out-qualifies-Alonso long shot tempting on the odd weekend. For points and podiums, only back him when the car is clearly strong.
