Cool head, big future.

Oscar Piastri arrived in Formula 1 already used to winning, and he has not stopped since.

The Australian won back-to-back junior titles in Formula 3 and Formula 2 without much fuss. His move to F1 was messy. Alpine announced him for 2023, but he said no and signed for McLaren instead, a contract row that went public. McLaren won, and Piastri soon proved why they fought for him.

He won his first race in 2024 and became a genuine title contender in 2025, finishing third in the championship behind teammate Norris and Verstappen. He is calm under pressure, rarely makes mistakes, and is still early in his career. Many believe a World Championship is only a matter of time. Born in Melbourne, he is Australia's brightest title hope since the days of Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo.

For the fans

Piastri is the quiet assassin. No drama, no fuss, just fast laps and clean racing. If you like a driver who lets the stopwatch do the talking, he is your man.

Punter's angle

Piastri is a live title pick, often at slightly longer odds than Norris despite similar pace. That gap can be value. Backing him each way for the championship, or in head-to-head markets against Norris, is a reasonable play. Watch early-season form between the pair.
