Live casino poker explained
The most common live casino poker game is Casino Hold’em. You play heads-up against the dealer. Both get two hole cards, share five community cards. After the flop, you fold or “call” by paying 2x your ante. After the turn and river, both hands are revealed. Best 5-card hand wins. Pays 1:1 on a call when you win.
RTP varies by variant: Casino Hold’em ~97.84%, Three Card Poker ~96.6%, Caribbean Stud ~94.78% (reasonable but not great), Ultimate Texas Hold’em ~99.47% with optimal play.
Video poker basics
Video poker is solo poker against a paytable. You’re dealt 5 cards, you keep or discard each, and the discarded cards are replaced. The final hand is paid out per the paytable.
- Jacks or Better: pays for a pair of Jacks or higher. With “9/6” paytable (Full House pays 9, Flush pays 6) and perfect play, RTP is 99.54%.
- Deuces Wild: 2s are wild. Optimal play RTP 100.76% on full pay tables (almost never offered online). 99.0% on standard tables.
- Bonus Poker: bigger payouts on four-of-a-kind. ~99.17% RTP.
- Joker Poker: adds one Joker as wild. Optimal RTP 100.65% on full pay tables.
Video poker is a thinking game. The paytable on every screen tells you what hands pay what. Strategy charts cover what to keep and discard for every starting hand. Memorise the chart for the variant you play, and you’re at 99% RTP. Play casually without the chart, you drop to 96% or lower.
