Curaçao draw level before Germany run riot
Curaçao had their moment in Houston on 14/06/2026. Germany went ahead after six minutes through Felix Nmecha. Then Livano Comenencia levelled it on 21 minutes to make the score 1-1 at NRG Stadium. For a short spell, the underdogs were holding one of the tournament favourites.
It did not last. Germany scored six unanswered goals. Nico Schlotterbeck put them back in front before half time. Jamal Musiala made it 3-1 just after the break. Nathaniel Brown, Deniz Undav and Kai Havertz then added the rest for a 7-1 win.
The result sent Germany top of Group E on goal difference after the opening round of games. Seven goals in one match was a statement. Curaçao sit bottom of the group after the heavy defeat. They share Group E with Ivory Coast and Ecuador, and they will need a big response to stay in the hunt.
