Haaland double powers Norway past Iraq
Norway began their World Cup with a 4-1 win over Iraq on 16/06/2026. Erling Haaland led the way. He scored twice in the first half, on 29 and 43 minutes, to put Norway in control.
Iraq did not fold. Aymen Hussein pulled one back just before half time to make it 2-1. Norway saw it out after the break. Leo Ostigard added a third on 76 minutes, and a 90th-minute own goal, turned in by the unlucky Hussein, finished a 4-1 win.
The result sent Norway top of Group I on goal difference. Haaland looks set for a big tournament. Iraq sit bottom and face a hard road back.
